Candacia Gittens-Taylor

Teacher

It is an honor to introduce myself to you. I am Candacia Gittens-Taylor, a native of Guyana currently residing in New York. My experience as an educator spans twenty years, ten of which have been with the Northeastern Conference Seventh-day Adventist school system. Within this time, I have served as an elementary and middle school teacher, principal, and vice principal.

I believe every child can learn, and within them are seeds of potential waiting to germinate. It is also my belief that every child learns differently. One size does not fit all. Therefore, I incorporate best practices or strategies into my instructional planning to meet the diverse needs of students. I am also committed to motivating, engaging, challenging, and guiding students to discover and develop their God-given abilities to become creative thinkers and doers.

I have been married for ten years, and my husband and I are proud “sponsor parents” of a thirteen-year-old girl named Juliana, who lives in Brazil. When not facilitating my students’ learning, I am actively involved in church life, which I deem a humble and tremendous privilege. I serve as the church’s music coordinator, praise and worship leader, and interim education department leader. Besides serving at church, I enjoy reading, cooking, and listening to music. I earnestly desire for God to continue to work in and through me to prepare students under my tutelage for the joy of service in this world and the higher joy of wider service
in the world to come.
