In Journal, students practice creative writing and progress at their own pace. Without such a program, students often lose story ideas because they are unable to write words. At this age, many thoughts and stories stem from pictures. During Journal, students draw pictures of their story on the top of the page and use temporary spelling to write the story at the bottom of the page. Students listen to the words and write the words or the letters that correspond to the sounds. Additional concepts are taught as students make progress.
