Pre-K has been busy investigating our garden this week. We used our five senses to explore the variety of plants growing there. We saw yellow squash and sunflowers, red and green tomatoes, green beans, and of course brown dirt. We felt spines on the squash and bumps on the gourds. We tasted the sweet grape tomatoes, the bitter oregano, and the “oniony” chives. We smelled the herbs as we picked and then crushed them in the mortar and pestle. And we heard the wind rustle the leaves of the sunflowers and listened to a bee buzzing by.
Afterwards, we went inside and painted pictures of the sunflowers that the pre-k class planted for us last year.
