Today the first and second grade class was visited by Mrs. Clingerman from the Blue Ridge Bank, located in downtown Frederick. Mrs. Clingerman reviewed what a bank is, and how it helps people and businesses in the community.
Mrs. Clingerman told the class about the services a bank offers – savings accounts, credit cards, and loans. They talked about how when you deposit money into the bank it goes into your account, and when you withdraw money you are taking it out of your account. They learned that you can only withdraw the amount of money that is in your account.
The kids were excited to learn about the vault, where larger amounts of money are stored. They also learned about some of the safety features that protects the vault. However, they were a little sad when they learned that the bank doesn’t keep millions of dollars on hand in the vault.
